Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases

Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The feature will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Significant Period for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
